Full-Time Employee (FTE) is an employee who works on a full-time schedule defined by an organization and is engaged under the employer's applicable employment terms, policies, and working-hour requirements. Full-time employees are generally part of the organization's regular workforce and may be eligible for salary, benefits, leave, and other employment-related provisions according to applicable rules and company policies.
In an HRMS, an FTE record can include employee information such as employee code, designation, department, date of joining, employment status, work schedule, salary structure, attendance, leave, benefits, and payroll details. Maintaining centralized FTE records helps HR teams manage the employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through payroll, performance management, transfers, and separation.
FTE data can also support workforce planning and HR analytics. Organizations can use full-time employee information to understand headcount, staffing requirements, departmental workforce distribution, compensation costs, attendance patterns, and employee movement.
In CLMS, FTE records can be distinguished from contract or outsourced workforce records. This separation helps organizations maintain clearer workforce classifications, contractor records, attendance data, workforce costs, and compliance-related information.
