Form 15G

Form 15G is a self-declaration used by an eligible resident taxpayer to request non-deduction of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on specified income when the applicable conditions are satisfied. Under the earlier Income-tax Act, 1961 framework, Form 15G was generally used by eligible resident individuals below 60 years of age and certain other eligible persons, subject to prescribed conditions.

Form 15G can also be relevant to EPF withdrawals where TDS may otherwise apply. EPFO guidance states that an eligible employee/member with an EPF withdrawal subject to TDS may submit Form 15G/15H along with PAN where the applicable conditions are met.

In HRMS and payroll management, Form 15G-related information can be maintained as part of employee statutory and tax records. An HRMS can store employee PAN, employment and PF information, declarations, supporting documents, and relevant payroll or separation information required for configured statutory workflows.

For EPF and employee separation processes, maintaining accurate service history, PF records, UAN information, PAN details, and withdrawal-related records can help HR and payroll teams support applicable TDS documentation. The actual eligibility for submitting Form 15G and the applicable tax treatment remain subject to the prevailing tax rules.
