Fixed Shift

Fixed Shift is a predefined work schedule in which an employee is assigned a specific start time, end time, and working duration for their scheduled workday. The shift generally remains consistent unless it is changed by an authorized HR or manager according to the organization's workforce policies.

In an HRMS, Fixed Shift is used to assign employees a regular work schedule and establish expected attendance timings. The system can use the configured shift timings to compare employee punches with scheduled start and end times, calculate working hours, identify late arrivals or early departures, and manage attendance exceptions.

Fixed Shift management helps organizations maintain consistent attendance, working-hour, overtime, leave, and payroll inputs. HR teams can assign shifts to employees individually or through applicable employee groups, departments, locations, grades, or other configured workforce structures. Effective dates can also be maintained when an employee's shift changes.

For CLMS and contract workforce management, Fixed Shifts help organizations assign standardized work timings to contract workers based on site, project, department, location, or workforce requirement. Shift assignments can be used with attendance, muster records, payable hours, overtime, and contractor billing processes to improve workforce visibility and operational control.
