Cost to Company (CTC) is the total annual cost an organization incurs for employing an employee. It represents the overall value of compensation, benefits, employer contributions, incentives, and other employment-related components provided or incurred by the organization. Depending on the organization's compensation structure, CTC may include basic salary, allowances, bonuses, incentives, employer contributions, gratuity, insurance, retirement benefits, and other applicable benefits. CTC is different from an employee's take-home salary because it can include components that are not directly paid to the employee as monthly cash. In Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS), CTC is used for salary structuring, compensation planning, payroll processing, budgeting, employee cost analysis, and compensation revision. Accurate CTC management helps organizations maintain transparent salary structures, calculate workforce costs, compare compensation, support financial planning, and manage employee compensation consistently.
