Absconding

Absconding refers to a situation where an employee leaves the organization without formally resigning, serving the required notice period, or informing the employer about their absence. An employee is generally considered absconding when they remain absent from work for an extended period without authorization or communication, despite repeated attempts by the employer to establish contact. Absconding can disrupt business operations, workforce planning, project delivery, payroll processing, and statutory compliance. Organizations typically follow a defined absconding policy that includes issuing warning notices, documenting communication attempts, conducting internal investigations, and taking disciplinary action in accordance with company policies and applicable labour laws. Modern Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) help organizations monitor unauthorized absences, automate notifications, maintain audit trails, and manage absconding cases efficiently and transparently.
